Tasters Club - Taconic Bourbon Enthusiast Straight Bourbon Whiskey 750 ml

Taconic Distillery works out of the Hudson Valley in New York, on a farm in Dutchess County, and this is a straight bourbon selected for a barrel-pick programme rather than a standard shelf release. Straight bourbon means new charred oak and at least two years in it, and single selections like this one carry more of the individual barrel's character than a large blend can. Caramel, vanilla and orchard fruit lead on the nose, the palate is brown sugar and baked apple with cinnamon over a nutty grain core, and the finish is warm and gently drying. Drink it neat or over one large cube, or build a straightforward old fashioned.
