Torres 10 Reserva Imperial is a Catalan brandy from the Torres family in Penedes, distilled from wine and then aged about ten years in a solera of American oak, the tiered system where older casks are continually refreshed from younger ones so the house style holds steady. This is the Argentina bottle from the World Cup series, dressed in the national colours. The nose gives vanilla, dried apricot and orange peel, the palate is smooth and sweet edged with toffee, raisin and cinnamon, and the finish is warm and lightly nutty. Pour it neat in a tulip glass after dinner, or lengthen it over ice with a strip of orange.
