Amaro Nonino Quintessentia is an Italian amaro from the Nonino family in Friuli, unusual among amari for using a grappa base rather than a neutral grain spirit, infused with herbs and roots and bottled at 35% ABV. That grappa foundation gives it a more grape-forward, aromatic quality than most amari. The nose shows dried orange peel, herbs, and light grape spirit, the palate carries bittersweet citrus and herbal complexity, and the finish is long and balanced.
