About this bottle
Codigo 1530 Origen spends six years in French white oak barrels that once held Napa Valley Cabernet — patience few extra añejo tequilas can claim. The distillery cooks 100% Blue Weber agave in the lowland town of Amatitán, Jalisco, and adds nothing after the still — no sweeteners, coloring or flavoring — so the wine-barrel years do all the work. Six years is genuinely old for the category, and the pour drinks closer to a fine cognac than a typical tequila: dried fig, butterscotch and roasted agave under dark chocolate and oak tannin, the agave still legible at the center. Serve it neat in a snifter after dinner, anywhere brandy would otherwise go.
