Redbreast Cask Strength is a single pot still Irish whiskey from the Midleton Distillery, made from a mix of malted and unmalted barley — the pot still style that gives Irish whiskey of this kind its distinctive spicy, oily texture, unlike the triple-distilled lightness of most Irish blends. Bottled at cask strength rather than diluted to a standard proof, it carries far more intensity than Redbreast's standard 12 Year. Aged 12 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, it comes out with a deep golden color, dried fruit and toasted oak on the nose, and a full-bodied, spicy palate with honey and toasted wood, finishing long with real heat behind it.
