About this bottle
Ardbeg Corryvreckan is a heavily peated single malt Scotch from Islay, named after the ferocious whirlpool in the strait between Jura and Scarba. Distilled from barley peated to around 55 parts per million phenol, it's matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and new French oak casks and bottled without an age statement at cask strength — 57.1% ABV. Expect intense smoke and tar up front, with dark chocolate, black pepper, and maritime brine underneath, building to a long, powerful, spice-driven finish. It's built as one of Ardbeg's boldest expressions, aimed squarely at peat lovers who find the standard 10 Year too tame.
How to drink Ardbeg Corryvreckan
Add a few drops of water — at cask strength it needs the dilution to open up rather than just burn. Don't reach for ice; you'll flatten the smoke you're paying for.
