Ouzo 12 is a Greek anise-flavored spirit, one of the best-known ouzo brands internationally, distilled from a base spirit and flavored predominantly with anise along with other botanicals in the traditional Greek style. Like other anise spirits such as Pastis or Sambuca, it turns cloudy white when mixed with water or ice due to the anise oils separating from the alcohol, a visual effect called louching. Expect a strong licorice-like anise nose, a palate that's sweet and herbal with pronounced anise, and a warm, aromatic finish. It's traditionally served with water and ice as an aperitif, often alongside Greek meze.
