Qvevri Wine Georgia Koncho&Co Aleksandrouli 750ml

Aleksandrouli is a red grape from Racha, the mountainous province in western Georgia, and it is the variety that gives the famous Khvanchkara wines their perfume. Grown at altitude on steep slopes, it ripens slowly and keeps its acidity, so the wines come out lighter-framed and more aromatic than the dense Saperavi reds of the eastern valleys. The nose is red cherry, raspberry and mountain herbs, the palate is bright red fruit with soft tannin, a floral lift and genuine freshness, and the finish is medium and faintly herbal. Serve it slightly cool with roast pork, mushroom dishes or a table full of Georgian small plates.
