Angostura Cask Collection No 1 750ml

Angostura Cask Collection No. 1 is a limited release from the House of Angostura in Trinidad, a distillery better known abroad for its aromatic bitters than for the column-still rum it has been making since the nineteenth century. Trinidadian rum sits on the lighter, drier side of the Caribbean spectrum, with less funk than Jamaica and more structure than Cuba, and tropical ageing does its work quickly in that heat. Expect a nose of toffee, dried apricot and toasted oak, a palate of caramel, banana, vanilla and warm baking spice, and a long finish drying toward oak and a little cocoa. Drink it neat in a small glass, or over one large cube.
