Ardnamurchan Sherry Cask Release is a Highland single malt from the remote distillery at Glenbeg, founded by independent bottler Adelphi and powered on site by hydro and biomass. The house runs both peated and unpeated spirit through its stills, and every bottling leaves without chill filtration or added color, which is why the whisky arrives dense rather than polished. Sherry casks bring the dark fruit: dried fig, walnut and orange peel on the nose, a palate of raisin, cocoa and clove sitting over a smoky core, then a dry, nutty finish that runs long. Drink it neat from a tulip glass, water optional and ice unnecessary.
