Azulejos Talavera Anejo is a 100% agave tequila from Los Azulejos, currently produced at NOM 1438 (Destiladora del Valle de Tequila Casa Maestri) and packaged in a hand-painted Talavera ceramic bottle. As an anejo, it's barrel-aged before bottling at 80 proof, and the extended wood time shows in a nose that opens yeasty and briny before pepper and pineapple emerge. The palate turns toward chocolate, orange, and sugar cookie in the middle, finishing sweet, sugary, and long. It's a tequila for drinkers as interested in the aged sweetness and oak-driven flavor as the collectible bottle it comes in, and it took Double Gold at the 2013 San Francisco World Spirits Packaging Competition.
