Black Feather Limited Release is a blend of straight rye whiskeys, a construction that lets a blender pull different barrels together for balance instead of relying on a single run to carry the whole bottle. Blending rye tends to round off the sharpest peaks while keeping the grain's characteristic bite intact. The nose gives rye spice, dried orange peel and vanilla. The palate is peppery grain and dark caramel with a herbal green edge running underneath, and the finish is long, dry and driven by spice rather than sugar.
