About this bottle
Blanton's was the bourbon that invented the single barrel category when Elmer T. Lee released it in 1984, and this anniversary bottling marks forty years of it. Every bottle still comes from one barrel pulled from Warehouse H at Buffalo Trace, the metal-clad warehouse that heats and cools faster than its brick neighbours, and each one is topped with one of the eight horse-and-jockey stoppers. Expect dried orange peel, caramel, vanilla and a flick of rye spice on the nose, then honey, dark fruit and baking spice over toasted oak, closing long and warm. Blanton's does not sit on shelves. Drink it neat, or over one large cube.
