About this bottle
Bottled for the Japanese market and rarely seen on American shelves, Blanton's Single Barrel Black is an export-only Kentucky bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery. Every bottle is dumped from a single barrel aged in the storied Warehouse H, then brought to an easygoing 80 proof for Japan, where Takara Shuzo distributes the brand. The high-rye character reads familiar — honey, soft vanilla, light caramel — but in a lighter, gentler frame than the Original, which is exactly the point. Stateside bottles arrive only as imports, so the Black label stays a genuine collector's find. Pour it over one big cube, or take the Tokyo route and stretch it into a tall, ice-cold highball.

Questions about this bottle
How should Blanton's Single Barrel Black be served?
Neat or over a single large ice cube shows off the bourbon best, though it also makes a clean, easy-drinking highball at 80 proof.
What makes the Black label different from standard Blanton's?
It's bottled specifically for the Japanese market at a lower 80 proof, giving a softer, gentler take on the usual Blanton's profile, and it's distributed there by Takara Shuzo rather than sold domestically in the US.
What mash bill and distillery does it use?
It's distilled at Buffalo Trace using their high-rye Mash Bill #2, the same recipe behind the rest of the Blanton's line, and dumped from a single barrel aged in Warehouse H.
