Bly Rum Limited Reserve is a small-run aged rum, the kind of bottling a producer holds back when a set of barrels turns out better than the standard release. Time in wood is what separates an aged rum from a white one: colour, tannin and a layer of spice that molasses alone never delivers. The nose here leans molasses, vanilla and toasted oak. The palate carries brown sugar, dried banana and warm baking spice, with the sweetness balanced by dryness pulled from the barrel, and the finish is medium-long and gently drying. Aged rum rewards a slow approach. Drink it neat or over one large cube, and keep the cola for something younger.
