Description:
Launched in July 2026 under the direction of Diageo's Nicole Austin, this ultra-aged release celebrates America’s 250th anniversary with a highly limited run of 1,776 individually numbered bottles. Crafted from Bulleit’s classic, high-rye mash bill (95% rye, 5% malted barley), the liquid was distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and matured for two full decades in Kentucky warehouses.
Bottled completely uncut and unfiltered at a massive 137 Proof (68.5% ABV), this expression pushes right up to the edge of "hazmat whiskey" territory. It represents a massive departure from Bulleit's value-driven flagship offerings, prioritizing a pure, unadulterated "wall of flavor" over standard dilution.
Tasting Notes:
The 20 years in wood dramatically transform the rye, causing it to lose its young, vibrant green mint characteristics and replacing them with dense, saturated oak and heavy confectionery notes.
Appearance: Medium-to-deep amber with exceptionally heavy, slow-moving legs in the glass.
Nose: Massive and complex. Initial aromas of polished leather, cured tobacco, and seasoned oak give way to sweet gingerbread, cloves, nutmeg, and a unique "fruit and cream" note layered with dark fig filling.
Palate: Viscous and heavily saturated. It delivers an aggressive, concentrated wave of burnt brown sugar and caramelized sweetness. The classic 95% rye spice is anchored deeply by old rickhouse wood and barrel char. Notes of dried apricot, baked apple, and cherry liqueur cut through the heavy oak tannins.
Finish: Long, drying, and intensely layered. Dark black tea, root beer, and lingering baking spices hug the palate for several minutes.
