About this bottle
Pierre Huet XO Calvados is an apple brandy from the Pays d'Auge, the most prestigious of Calvados's three AOC regions in Normandy, France. It's distilled from a blend of local apples and pears and aged a minimum of eight years in oak under the XO designation, developing notes of dried fruit, baking spice, and oak alongside Calvados's signature apple character. Pierre Huet is a smaller, family-run producer rather than one of the larger Calvados houses, working from its own orchards in the Pays d'Auge. The finish is long and lingering, with a hint of sweetness typical of well-aged Calvados.
How to drink Pierre Huet XO Calvados
Pour it neat in a snifter after dinner, the way the French traditionally drink Calvados — sometimes even between courses as a trou normand. It's rich enough to stand in for a digestif Cognac if that's more familiar territory.
