Chartreuse Yellow Liqueur 700ml

Chartreuse Yellow is a French herbal liqueur made by Carthusian monks at the Voiron monastery, using a recipe the order has kept secret since the 17th century. It launched in 1838 as a milder, sweeter counterpart to the older, more intensely herbal Chartreuse Green, and shares the same base of more than 130 plants and botanicals macerated and distilled by hand. Bottled at 40% ABV, roughly half the strength of Green Chartreuse's 55%. Expect honeyed sweetness and floral, saffron-tinted spice rather than Green's sharp menthol bite — softer, rounder, and easier to sip on its own. The monastery caps annual production to prioritize its life of prayer over output, which keeps bottles scarce. Pour it as an after-dinner sipper or build it into a Bijou or a Chartreuse-based Last Word variation.

How to drink Chartreuse Yellow

Serve it chilled or over ice as an after-dinner digestif — its sweetness reads best cold. It also softens a Last Word or a Bijou if you swap it in for the green version, pulling the cocktail toward honey and spice instead of menthol. Skip a heavy hand with it; a little goes far.
