About this bottle
Chinaco Añejo is one of the few tequilas made outside Jalisco proper, produced by Destiladora González Díaz Lombardo in Tamaulipas — a small, historic pocket of the official tequila-producing region on Mexico's Gulf side. Made from 100% blue agave, it rests in oak for roughly two years, longer than many competitors use for añejo, which builds a smooth, mellow profile layered with oak, vanilla, and caramel over the agave's earthy backbone. Chinaco was also the first tequila legally exported to the United States as a super-spirit, back in the 1980s, and the brand has leaned on that reputation since. It suits agave drinkers who want an añejo built for the glass, not the blender.
How to drink Chinaco Añejo
Take it neat in a tulip glass to let the oak and vanilla notes develop, the way you'd taste a good brandy. It also holds its own in a well-made Tequila Old Fashioned if you want something more composed than a straight pour.
