About this bottle
Cointreau is the orange liqueur most classic cocktails were written around, created in Angers in 1849 and made since from a blend of sweet and bitter orange peels distilled in copper pot stills. It is clear rather than caramel-coloured, and drier than most triple sec, which is exactly why it lifts a margarita instead of flattening it into sugar. Bright orange oil and warm spice on the nose, a clean citrus-led palate that stays only lightly sweet, and a dry finish with a faint bitter-peel edge. Bottled at 40% ABV. This 1.75L format is the back-bar size. Build margaritas, sidecars and cosmopolitans, or pour it over ice with soda and a lemon twist.
