Common Ground Gin Janéa #2 Barrel Finished 750ml

Common Ground Janea #2 is a barrel-finished gin, distilled as a gin first and then given time in wood, which pulls it partway toward whiskey without giving up the botanicals. Barrel-rested gins live in that middle ground on purpose: juniper and citrus still lead, but vanilla and soft oak settle in underneath and add weight the clear version does not have. Juniper and dried citrus peel open the nose with vanilla creeping in behind. The palate brings warm spice, pine and honey over soft oak, and the finish is dry and gently woody with the juniper returning at the end. Pour it into a Negroni, or stir an old fashioned with orange.
