Courage & Conviction Double Cask Reserve is an American single malt from Virginia Distillery Company, made entirely from malted barley and matured in the Blue Ridge foothills, where hot summers drive the spirit into the wood faster than a Scottish warehouse ever would. The Courage & Conviction programme was built around a multi-cask maturation approach, and this bottling draws on more than one cask type rather than a single wood. Expect malt, dried fruit and honey on the nose, a palate of baked apple, toffee and nutty malt depth, and a finish of gentle oak spice. Pour it neat in a glencairn, with a few drops of water if the wood runs hot.
