Crown Royal Reserve 12 year 1.75

Crown Royal Reserve is a step up from the standard house blend, built from a smaller selection of whiskies from the Gimli distillery and carrying a 12 year age statement on this release. The extra time shows in weight rather than heat, with the blend leaning richer and woodier than the purple bag bottling. The nose brings toffee, dried fruit and toasted grain. The palate is rounder and more layered, with butterscotch, orchard fruit and a dusting of clove over soft oak. The finish runs longer than expected, warm and gently spiced. Pour it neat or over one large cube; it does not need mixing.
