Crown Royal Single Malt Canadian Whisky 750 ml

Given all the hoopla over the last few years about American single malt as its own category and specific style of whiskey, it was just a matter of time before our neighbors north of the border jumped into the fray and grabbed the spotlight!

What’s interesting about the new Crown Royal edition is that it wasn’t distilled at the iconic Gimli distillery near Winnipeg, but rather at the company’s Valleyfield distillery much further east near Montreal. As far as we can remember, we’ve never tasted a single unique expression from Valleyfield, so we were excited to get our hands on this one!

Made from 100% malted barley, just like Scottish single malt, milled, mashed, and distilled in the Canadian cold, everything about the new Crown Royal Single Malt Whisky is familiar, yet lifted in a certain sense. There’s more cinnamon, and more baked apple flavor, with vanilla and banana on the finish.

What’s more exciting is that these are the first bottles from the first ever batch! So expect these to be collectors items down the road. Crown Royal fans will be more than pleased at the reasonable pricing as well, as you can afford to open a bottle to enjoy it, while squirreling another away.
