Deep Whiskey Cask Strength is an American whiskey bottled without dilution, straight from the barrel, which is what cask strength means: no water added on the way to the bottle. Expect more weight, more oak and more heat than a standard 80 proof pour, and expect a few drops of water to change the drink considerably. The nose is dense and sweet, with caramel, toasted oak and baking spice. The palate is thick and warming, brown sugar and vanilla up front giving way to cinnamon, char and dry tannin. The finish is long and hot. Pour a small measure neat, then open it up with water to taste.
