About this bottle
Dorothy Arzner Straight Rye is a 3-year-old straight rye whiskey named for the pioneering Hollywood director, one of very few women directing studio films in the 1930s and '40s. As a straight rye, it's legally required to be at least 51% rye grain and aged a minimum of two years in new charred oak, so the 3-year age statement puts it just past that minimum. Beyond the stated age and mash type, specific tasting details and proof for this release aren't confirmed here. Rye character generally runs spicier and drier than bourbon, with less corn sweetness to soften it.
How to drink Dorothy Arzner Straight Rye
A young straight rye like this is a solid Manhattan or whiskey sour base, where its spice cuts through vermouth or citrus rather than getting lost.
