Double A Ambition & Achievements is a straight bourbon released with a four-to-five year age statement, which puts it right at the point where a barrel has given up its caramel and vanilla but has not yet turned dry and tannic. That window is where a lot of the best value on a bourbon shelf lives, and an age statement on the label is worth something at a time when many bottles have quietly dropped theirs. The nose is caramel, vanilla and toasted oak. The palate is brown sugar and baking spice over a dry oak middle, and the finish is medium and warm. Drink it neat, or build an old fashioned.
