Linkumpinch Black Label is the six year old bourbon from Dueling Grounds Distillery in Franklin, Kentucky, a small operation named for the duelling ground just over the Tennessee state line. Six years is a real age statement rather than a marketing gesture, and it is long enough for new charred oak to have handed over its caramel and tannin without stripping the grain sweetness out. The nose is caramel, dark cherry and charred oak. The palate is brown sugar and cinnamon over toasted oak with a little leather behind it, and the finish is long, drying and spiced. Drink it neat, or over one large cube in an old fashioned.
