Elijah Craig Barrel Proof B524 is the second release of 2024, an eleven-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon from Heaven Hill bottled uncut and unfiltered at full barrel strength. Eleven years in new charred oak in a Kentucky rickhouse builds a deep, tannic bourbon, and skipping both dilution and chill filtration keeps the texture thick and the oils in the glass. Expect caramel, dark cherry and toasted oak on the nose; a palate of brown sugar, cinnamon, leather and char; and a long, hot finish that stretches out with a few drops of water. Drink it neat with water on the side, or over a single large cube.
