Fernet Contratto is a fernet-style amaro from Contratto, a historic Piedmont, Italy distiller known for its vermouth and bitter liqueurs. Fernet is one of the most intensely bitter and herbal styles within the amaro family, built on a complex blend of herbs, roots, and spices macerated and aged. Expect menthol, saffron, and dark herbal bitterness on the nose, an intensely bitter, medicinal palate, and a long, herbal finish. It's a polarizing but beloved style, traditionally taken as a digestivo or in an Espresso-Fernet combination.
