About this bottle

Flor de Caña Centenario 12 Year is a single-estate rum from Nicaragua's Chichigalpa distillery, where the company has grown its own sugarcane and controlled every step from field to bottle since 1890. The rum ages a full 12 years in the tropical volcanic climate near San Cristóbal volcano, a faster, more intense maturation than cooler climates produce, in white oak barrels. It comes out deep amber with dried fruit, toffee, and orange peel on the nose, then a smooth, layered palate of vanilla, oak, and caramel. Flor de Caña is also certified carbon-neutral and Fair Trade, a rarity in the aged-rum category. A strong sipping rum at a fair price point.

How to drink Flor de Caña Centenario 12

Pour it neat or with one ice cube — 12 years of tropical aging gives it enough weight to stand on its own, no mixer required.

Questions about this bottle

How should I serve Flor de Caña Centenario 12 Year?

Sip it neat or with a single large ice cube — 12 years of tropical aging gives it enough depth to stand on its own rather than needing a mixer.

Where is Flor de Caña Centenario 12 Year produced?

It's distilled and aged at the company's own distillery in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua, where Flor de Caña has grown its own sugarcane and controlled every step from field to bottle since 1890.

Why does Flor de Caña age so much faster than Scotch?

Chichigalpa's tropical volcanic climate near San Cristóbal volcano drives a faster, more intense maturation than cooler climates like Scotland produce, so 12 years there concentrates more oak character than the same span would elsewhere.
