Forty Below California Dry Gin is a dry gin made in the California style - juniper still in charge, but with more room given to citrus and softer botanicals than a classic London Dry usually allows. That West Coast approach tends to produce a gin that reads brighter and rounder, which makes it friendly neat and forgiving in a mixed drink. Juniper and lemon peel lead the nose, with coriander and a floral lift behind them. The palate is clean and lightly sweet, with pine, orange zest and a touch of pepper, finishing dry and crisp. Pour it into a gin and tonic with a wide strip of grapefruit, or stir a very cold Martini.
