Four Roses 135th Anniversary Limited Edition Small Batch is the annual barrel-strength release from the Lawrenceburg distillery, blended by the master distiller from a handful of hand-selected recipes and bottled to mark 135 years of the brand. Four Roses is unusual in that it runs two mash bills against five proprietary yeast strains, giving ten distinct bourbons to draw from - and the yearly Small Batch is where those get combined. Expect a nose of ripe cherry, honey and clove, a palate layered with caramel, dark stone fruit, cocoa and rye spice, and a long finish of toasted oak and dried apricot. Drink it neat, with a few drops of water to open it up.
