Full Curl Straight Bourbon Whiskey with nine years behind it sits near the top of what most American oak will give before the wood begins to dominate the spirit outright. Nine summers in a warehouse mean a great deal of movement in and out of the staves, and that shows up in the colour and in the weight on the tongue. Expect a nose of dark caramel, tobacco leaf and stewed apple, a palate of brown sugar, cocoa, cinnamon and dry oak with a savoury undertow, and a long, tannic finish. This one deserves a Glencairn and a few drops of water, or one large cube and nothing else in the glass.
