Garrison Brothers Guadalupe is the distillery's port-finished Texas straight bourbon, and this bottling lands at 127.5 proof. The whiskey spends its life in new charred oak in Hye, in the Texas Hill Country, where the temperature swings do in a few years what takes a decade elsewhere. Portuguese port casks then give it the darker fruit that defines the expression. The nose is plum, dark chocolate and toasted oak; the palate brings fig, brown sugar and cherry over a heavy char base; the finish is long, rich and drying. Uncut whiskey at this strength wants a little water. Pour it neat, or over one big cube.
