Garrison Brothers Laguna Madre is a limited-release Texas straight bourbon whiskey that spends its final act in French Limousin oak. The Hye, Texas distillery ages the bourbon in new American oak, then moves it into tight-grained Limousin casks cut from French forest trees more than a century old — wood prized by cognac houses and rarely handed to bourbon. The French oak rounds the whiskey into something plush: caramel and toffee on the nose, vanilla bean, hazelnut, and milk chocolate across a creamy palate, and a long finish that leans toward coconut and white chocolate. Laguna Madre returns in small yearly batches and disappears fast when it does. Save it for slow after-dinner pours alongside dessert, or instead of one.
