George Dickel Tennessee Single Barrel is drawn from one cask at Cascade Hollow rather than blended into a batch, and this bottling carries a nine year age and an 11-2-2022 barrel date. Dickel's signature step happens before maturation: the new make is chilled and then filtered through sugar maple charcoal, which is why the distillery's whisky reads softer and more mineral than most Tennessee whiskey. Nine years in oak brings brown sugar, corn husk and a faint menthol lift on the nose, then caramel, cinnamon and toasted pecan on the palate, and a long, dry, cooling finish. Drink it neat and give it a minute to open in the glass.
