About this bottle
Giffard Creme de Cacao is a chocolate liqueur from the Giffard family house in Angers, in France's Loire valley, which has been making fruit and botanical liqueurs since 1885. Creme de cacao is built on cacao beans that are steeped and distilled rather than on chocolate syrup, which is why it reads drier and more roasted than most dessert liqueurs. The nose is cocoa nib and vanilla; the palate is smooth and moderately sweet with roasted cacao, toasted nut and a hint of coffee; the finish stays clean instead of turning cloying. Use it in a brandy Alexander, a grasshopper, or a 20th Century with gin and lemon.
