Gnarly Head Old Vine Zin 2021 750 ML

Gnarly Head Old Vine Zin is a California Zinfandel built from head-trained, gnarled old vines in Lodi, the inland delta district that has grown Zinfandel longer than almost anywhere in the state. Those older vines crop lightly, which concentrates what little fruit they give. The 2021 leads with dark berry and vanilla on the nose, then fills the palate with blackberry jam, black cherry and mocha, with a peppery lift that keeps the ripeness honest. Soft tannins and a warm, toasty oak finish round it off. Pour it with grilled tri-tip, smoked brisket or a pepperoni pizza, and give it fifteen minutes open before the first glass.
