About this bottle
Golden Moon Distillery Mugi Shochu comes from Golden, Colorado, an American craft distillery known for reviving historical spirit styles rather than sticking to typical whiskey and vodka. 'Mugi' means barley in Japanese, and this shochu is distilled from barley and rice using techniques borrowed from traditional Japanese production, despite being made stateside. It's a light, smooth spirit with a mild flavor and gentle sweetness, lower in intensity than most Western spirits at a similar proof. It works well sipped neat, on the rocks, or mixed into cocktails, and can also stand in for sake or shochu in cooking.
How to drink Golden Moon Mugi Shochu
Try it the traditional Japanese way — on the rocks, or mixed with hot or cold water (oyu-wari or mizu-wari) to open up the barley's mild sweetness. It's gentle enough to sip slowly through a meal rather than as a strong pour before or after.
