Hampden Estate Single Jamaican Rum 1753 750 ml

Hampden Estate 1753 is a single Jamaican rum from Trelawny, named for the year the estate was founded. Hampden works entirely in pot stills with long wild fermentations, which is what produces the high-ester style the distillery is known for and the reason its rums taste nothing like a soft column-still pour. Expect overripe banana, pineapple and a lick of varnish on the nose, then tropical fruit and brown sugar on the palate with a green olive brininess running underneath, and a long drying finish that keeps the funk going. Sip it neat first, then build a Jamaican daiquiri and see what it does.
