About this bottle
Hardin's Creek Jacob's Well is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Beam's small-batch premium line, marrying a 16-year-old traditional bourbon with a 15-year-old high-rye bourbon and bottling the result at 108 proof. Named for the well Jacob Beam dug when he settled in Kentucky, it is built to show what extra age does to two different mash bills at once. The traditional side brings deep caramel, toasted oak and dark fruit; the high-rye side layers in baking spice and a drier, peppery edge. The finish is long and warm, heavy on char and oak. At 54% ABV this is a contemplative, older bourbon: pour it neat and let the age carry the glass, and save the ice for something younger.
