Hochstadter's Slow & Low Rock and Rye is a small-batch spirit blending straight rye whiskey with honey and rock candy, reviving a pre-Prohibition American tradition of sweetening rye with rock sugar as both a flavoring and, historically, a home remedy. It's aged a minimum of two years in charred oak before the honey and rock candy are added, so there's real whiskey character underneath the sweetness rather than a purely flavored base spirit. Expect honey and floral sweetness layered over rye spice on the nose, a smooth, mellow palate, and a warming finish with a lingering sweetness.
