About this bottle
Hugo Rouge is a cognac from the Charente in western France, distilled from white grapes in copper pot stills and matured in French oak before blending. The bottling carries no published age statement, so take it on style rather than numbers: cognac at this end of the range is built for approachability, with fruit and vanilla doing more of the work than tannin. Expect dried apricot and vanilla on the nose, a palate of baked stone fruit, honey and light spice, and a finish that turns toward oak and cocoa. Serve it neat in a tulip glass at room temperature, or use it as the base of a sidecar.
