About this bottle
DESCRIPTION
Jameson Distiller's Batch is a single pot still Irish whiskey — which sets it apart from the green-bottle Jameson most people know. That standard bottle blends pot still and grain whiskey; this one is all single pot still, the older Irish style made from malted and unmalted barley, triple-distilled in copper pots at Midleton. Master distiller Kevin O'Gorman matured it across five cask types — ex-bourbon, Oloroso sherry, and virgin Irish, European, and American oak — which is where the layers come from: honeycomb and salted caramel giving way to dark chocolate, cinnamon, and orange peel. Bottled at 46% instead of the usual 40%, it drinks fuller and spicier while keeping the smoothness the brand is known for. Pour it neat to read the casks, or let it carry a Manhattan.
TASTING NOTES
Color: Deep gold.
Nose: Toasted oak and honeycomb, salted caramel and vanilla, with cinnamon and ripe orchard fruit.
Palate: Full and creamy — dark chocolate and spicy toffee, cinnamon and ginger, with orange peel and soft dried fruit.
Finish: Long and warming, lingering oak and gentle spice, the fruit fading slow.
HOW TO DRINK
Neat first — at 46% the pot still texture and the five-cask layers come through without help. A small cube or a few drops of water opens the honey and orchard fruit if you want it. It's rich enough to anchor a Manhattan or a whiskey sour, where the sherry and spice hold up against the other ingredients.
