Joshua Tree Distilling Distiller's Reserve Tobala Reposado 750ml

Tobalá is the small, wild-growing agave that mezcaleros prize for its concentration and its stubbornly low yield — it takes a great many piñas to fill a single bottle. This Distiller's Reserve from Joshua Tree Distilling rests that spirit in oak, so the raw agave gets rounded rather than covered over. The nose is roasted agave, wet stone and a little woodsmoke; the palate is sweeter than an unaged pour, with cooked pineapple, vanilla and dried herb over the mineral base; the finish is long, warm and gently smoky. Sip it neat at room temperature in a copita, or serve it slowly alongside orange and sal de gusano.
