About this bottle
Off Scotland's west coast, the Isle of Jura makes Superstition, a lightly peated single malt Scotch aged in ex-bourbon casks. The island's cool, salt-air climate leaves a mark: peat smoke sits low and soft here, more suggestion than statement. Honey and pine lead the nose, followed by clove, cinnamon, and a thread of sea spice, with bitter dark chocolate underneath. At 43% ABV, or 86 proof, it drinks smooth and warming, sweet at the core with spice around the edges. There is no age statement, since Superstition marries younger and older Jura whisky rather than bottling a single vintage. It works as an easygoing introduction to peat, poured neat or with a splash of water.
