Kaiyo Wood Library Series 10yr 750ml

The Wood Library series is Kaiyō's cask-focused line, and this is the 10 year old — a full decade in wood before bottling, an age statement Japanese whisky increasingly struggles to put on a label. Mizunara oak is the house signature, the Japanese species that gives sandalwood and incense where American oak gives vanilla. The nose is honey, sandalwood and dried apricot; the palate is soft and resinous with toasted coconut, orchard fruit and a gentle pepper; the finish is dry and long with a lingering woody perfume. Drink it neat at room temperature, in a glass that narrows at the rim, with a little water on the side.
