Kavalan Ex-Bourbon Oak is matured entirely in ex-bourbon casks at the Kavalan Distillery in Yilan, Taiwan, where the island's hot, humid climate drives fast, intense maturation compared to Scotland. Bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered, it shows the lighter, sweeter side of the distillery's house style: vanilla, honey, and coconut from the American oak, layered with tropical fruit and a touch of toasted oak. The finish is smooth and moderately long, with sweetness carrying through to the end. It's a good comparison bottle alongside Kavalan's sherry oak release for anyone tasting cask influence side by side.
