Kavalan Port Cask Cask Strength 750ml

Kavalan is Taiwan's single malt distillery, working in a subtropical climate where whisky matures at a pace Scotland never sees — a few years in Yilan can do what a decade does further north. This is the port cask bottling at cask strength, undiluted straight from the barrel rather than cut to a standard proof. The nose is red berry, dark chocolate and dried fig; the palate is thick and sweet with cherry, plum and coconut over a firm oak spine; the finish is long, warm and tannic. The intensity is the point, and so is the strength. Add water a few drops at a time until the fruit opens up.
